Dirt and duct tape, can’t live without them
by Ken Carpenter
My two stories today are about dirt, written in the fall of 2012, and duct tape, written in 2005.
The dirt story was soiled a bit by my frustration with political dirt slinging at the time. I think… it shows that it always seemed natural for me to become a dirty boy. Sometimes you reach a certain level of dirtiness, like a kid in a mudhole, and it is the most genuine thing in the world.
The duct tape story was put together in 2005, and it was a tell-all tale about when my wife Joy (also known as “That poor woman.”) and I were dating. I probably heard more comments on it than anything I ever wrote, not a few from Joy herself. She had such a great sense of humor about it that I knew I had chosen wisely.
