Wiener dogs and sports fans don’t always mesh

by Ken Carpenter

My story for today is from 2002, when my youngest son Heath was still home. We watched a lot of sports, and we were not quiet about it. At the time I had four wiener dogs, all of which are gone now.
Watching baseball or football are no longer a noise fest in my house, but at times I sense scurrying feet and whining from doggie heaven if I happen to bellow. My present four dogs, including one Dachshund, are a calmer bunch.
The TV only excites them if a loudmouthed dog or a slamming car door exit the speakers. Let one deer fart out by the woods though and the whole howling mob heads for the doggie door.
